SCORR helps at Ronald McDonald House in Summit Co. (Ohio)
A group of the Summit County Offender Recidivism Reduction (SCORR) participants recently volunteered at the Akron Ronald McDonald House, which helps families of children in hospitals by providing them with a welcoming place to stay. SCORR, overseen by Summit County Court of Common Pleas-General Division Judge Kelly McLaughlin, is a Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) grant funded, pilot program modeled after the Swift, Certain and Fair supervision strategy for felony offenders on community control. The program provides an increased level of accountability and structure to promote long-term behavior change and to improve offender outcomes in successfully completing their program along with overall reductions in substance abuse, recidivism and incarceration.
